Forensic neuropsychology is a rapidly growing subspecialty, and many clinical neuropsychologists are receiving referrals for cases with a forensic component. In this presentation, we will discuss the various roles neuropsychologists can play in forensic work/settings. We will also review special issues in forensic neuropsychology, including ethical considerations, test security, third-party observers, and performance validity. The talk will also focus on giving effective testimony.

Financial Capacity Assessment When Working as an Expert

With the greatest generational wealth transfer the U.S. has ever seen, there has been an increase in contested cases about financial capacity. In this course we will examine financial capacity assessment for contested legal matters. Contested cases may be retrospective reviews, and/or prospective assessments. Contested matters such as testamentary and contractual capacity as well as Conservatorship matters will be examined. There will be a focus on person-centered tools and approaches created by the speaker and his colleagues, as well as a review of the research to date on the validity of the tools. The issue of undue influence, often central in retrospective cases, will be examined as well. Tips on report writing and communicating with attorneys will also be presented.
