Providing Competency Based Supervision in Clinical Neuropsychology
Clinical supervision is one of the primary means by which health service psychologists learn to provide clinical care to patients or clients. Effective clinical supervision of students, doctoral interns, and postdoctoral residents is an essential activity for many clinical neuropsychologists. Despite the obvious importance of supervision in neuropsychology, training in providing clinical supervision in neuropsychology has been limited. In this course, clinical supervision will be discussed as a specific competency that neuropsychologists need to develop. A discussion of topics relevant to supervision in neuropsychology will be addressed, including competency-based supervision, forming, and maintaining the supervisory relationship, teaching supervision, and measuring effective supervision.
